Things
to do in California
It is no surprise
that California is one of the most sought-out work assignment
destinations by travel nurses. Its unique blend of cosmopolitan,
beach life, and celebrity atmosphere rolled into one make
for an exciting work time. Besides enjoying some of the highest
pay scales in Los Angeles and San Diego, travel nurses can
compliment their fun with California's finest attractions
and activities. Let's take a look into the fun things travel
nurses can do in California.
California is known for its sandy coastlines
and coastal mini cities. However, its celebrity status means
plenty of fun for travel nurses as well. Head up to Beverly
Hills and rub elbows with celebrities at hotspots like Hollywood
and the South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa. This area is full
of hundreds of shopping malls, including the Downtown Disney
Mall in Anaheim and Salinas Oldtown. The trademark California
amusement parks include the classic Disneyland, the new California
Adventure theme park, the ultra popular Universal Studios,
and Sea World.
Disneyland deserves a paragraph all by itself,
particularly for its breathtaking array of activities which
include 60 plus rides, more than 50 shops and 30 restaurants
divided into eight different "mini" theme parks.
For a short weeks stay, hotel and motel accommodations won't
be a problem as there are more than 150 total bed & breakfast
establishments in the city of Anaheim.
For more action packed fun, head straight
down to Southern California as well. Southern California is
the capital of the US when it comes to sports like surfing,
golf, tennis, biking, and boating. Head to Huntington Beach,
where surfers are held in high acclaim with its own International
Surfing Museum. On top of that is the nation's Surfers' Hall
of Fame. Exciting parks are all over the California coast.
City parks are endless, and each has its own array of entertainment
features like sports complexes, restaurants, picnic areas,
and specialty centers.
For big screen buffs, there is the Museum
of Television and Radio in Beverly Hills. Close to the rolling
hills of Hollywood, this museum lets visitors watch screenings
of their favorite episodes. They also have seminars headed
by famous celebrities like Hugh Hefner every once in a while.
Another attraction you should definitely
set out to see when in California is Rodeo Drive. Pound for
pound, Rodeo Drive is the most luxurious celebrity shopping
hotspot in the country. It is a shopping strip that runs north
to famed Santa Monica Boulevard, where it shifts into private
multi million dollar homes. All of the name brand designers
have stores here, including Gucci, Armani, Ralph Lauren and
more. What's more, this exclusive area is home to the most
expensive boutique in the world. Customers have to make appointments
just to get inside! Of course, don't let this discourage you
- there is plenty to do for non-celebrities like us!
From the strips of California coastline
to Jay Leno tapings in West Alameda Avenue in Burbank all
the way down to Disneyland, there is something for everyone.
Travel nurses should make it a point to at least investigate
the possibility of working in exciting California!
